Siding Maintenance Tips During The Winter
As we enter the winter months, people frequently look towards their roofs for regular maintenance. Along with your homes roofing, the siding on your home is extremely vulnerable to all of winter’s conditions. Luckily for you, there are a wide range of things you can do in order to keep your siding in tip-top shape this winter.
Signs Of Damage:
Almost nothing has the ability to ruin your siding faster than water does and during the winter the risk of infiltration is at its highest. A good spot to check for water damage is done by inspecting the space where the siding meets the corner moldings, windows & doors. As well you should look for caulking that is:
- Cracking
- Gapping
- Missing
- Pulling Away
If you notice any of these signs, it may be an indication that water damage has occurred and you need repairs.
Clean & Rinse:
If you’re sure that your siding is in good shape, then it may be a good idea to clean it at least once a year. It’s a great way to lift any mildew, grim and other debris, no matter what time of the year you decide to do it.
Contact A Professional:
If the idea of scrubbing down your house during the winter doesn’t sound like a fun idea, call a trusted siding contractor. They can inspect the current condition of your house but can also make sure that everything is in pristine condition.
