Best Questions to Ask Your Siding Contractor

Hiring the right contractor to work on your home is very important. It could be the difference between getting low quality/incomplete work and getting the most professional install out there.

So many homeowners may just ask for a quote and go with the lowest price. While that is certainly something you should get, there are so many other  questions you should weigh.

Crucial Questions to Ask Siding Contractors:

1. Do they have Liability and Compensation Insurance?

Contractors across the board could have vastly different amounts of coverage. If you go with a contractor that doesn’t have any coverage, you could end up paying for repairs or damage caused by the contractor.

2. What Payment Schedule Is Expect?

Along with the quotes that you get, be sure that you fully understand what the payment schedule is. It is advised that you don’t pay the full amount before any work has even started.

3. Will you be getting any Guarantees and Warranties?

There are often two different types of warranties that you can benefit by with a new installation. The first being the manufacturer warranties and the other being a workmanship warranty. Ask your siding contractor which ones are available.

4. What brand and type of siding will be installed?

The written estimate which you should be receiving should include the list of brands and materials that will be used. Do you homework on the various siding solutions and make sure you’re getting the best option for you.

5. How long has the company been in business?

With all things considered, a contracting company that has 10 years of experience is much more attractive compared to one that has been around for 2 months.

6. Do they have Referrals or References?

All things considered, there is sometimes nothing better than hearing from someone else’s actual mouth that the contractor you are about to hire was excellent for them.

7. Are they local?

An established company in the local community is often much safer than a new contractor or one from afar. A local company has a reputation that must stay in tact.

8. Are they licensed in your state?

Contractors may work across a few states, so make sure they are licensed in your actual state. Ask for there license number and verify that they are qualified.

Knowing the right questions will help you dramatically. Get the best material and contractor and your project will go as planned.
