Jancon Exteriors works closely with hundreds of homeowners and hundreds of homes every single year. From roofs to windows and everything in between, we have seen it all when it comes to home improvement. As a homeowner, keeping an eye on your house is very important but also maintaining it during every season will allow for you to make sure everything stays in it’s working order for as long as possible.

It is incredible to think that we are fully into the swing of fall and that winter is now right around the corner. Follow our fall checklist before winter arrives!

1. Clean Our Your Gutters:

Gutters filled with leaves, and gunk need to be cleaned out before winter or you can be in for a world of hurt. Clogged gutter can lead to your gutters being damaged, roof damage and ice dams.

2. Check Out Your Roof:

If you aren’t trying to have a full roof inspection done on your roof be sure to walk around your house and atleast look to see if anything seems off. Your roof is about to endure a lot of wear and tear from mother nature so try your best and stay on top of it. Be sure if you notice anything off your roof to contact a roofing expert.

3. Seal Air Leaks:

If your windows or doors are letting in air leaks, there is a good chance you’ll need to dive into that deeper, but in meantime look into sealing them up with caulk can get you through a winter. New windows may seem like a lot of money but for so many homeowners it ends up saving them a ton on money.

4. Trim Trees:

On top of your home dealing with all the extra issues that comes along with winter, your trees are affected as well. With all the wind, freezing rain and snow during the winter, your trees are put under much more stress. Because of this, it’s important that you don’t have any branches hanging over your house. If so, be sure to contact an arborist and having them taken down. If not, a falling branch can cause so many issues for a home.
