AZEK vs Trex, Which should you choose?

AZEK vs Trex, Which should you choose?

So you’re in the process of looking for which material you will need for your decks. You’ve done your research, and you’ve narrowed it down to two top choices in the market, AZEK, and Trex. Now you want to see which of the two will benefit you the most. Whether you’re planning to have cookouts with your friends and family, or an additional space to kick back and relax and enjoy the quiet, we’ve broken it down what to consider and why we believe AZEK is our top choice.

Which is cheaper?

Right off the bat, AZEK is more expensive than Trex. Even for an identical project, you may find AZEK coming into 2 to 3 times the cost, per leaner board food. So Trex is the winner? Not quite yet. Here’s what else to consider.

Which is more durable?

The great thing about both products is that they require less maintenance than others; however, when we are talking about the decks’ lifespan and its resistance, AZEK is the winner. Even though it’s more expensive, there are fewer things to damage; therefore, it stays nicer in the long run, which makes AZEK a better long term value.

Tolerance of harsh weather.

Depending on where you are situated, both have their own benefits. In Massachusetts, the weather during the winter can be unpredictable. AZEK tends to be more resistant due to its PVC, which means no moisture or water would be absorbed, which can lead to cracked pieces.

Resistance to fading.

Trex comes in a variety of model options giving you the flexibility in choosing premium for better performance. However, on average, AZEK still comes out on top as he material fades less over time. The resistance to fading gives AZEK an upper edge as the material stays fresher for a more extended period.

Better warranty.

Both AZEK and Trex provide excellent warranties where you are protected over the years. AZEK does have a 30-year warranty vs. 25-year with Trex. It’s the little things that can make a huge difference.

There you have it. We’ve listed some important factors why we believe AZEK should be your decking choice. Yes, it is more expensive, but the quality, resistance to harsh weather, and durability are what ticks the box if you’re looking for the best performance and investment.
